Championship Boxing in Torquay

As always, I'd like to start by introducing one of the behind-the-scenes team that helped to make this event happen. David Walter is a timekeeper for the British Boxing Board of Control.



The first bout of the evening in Torquay was a six, twos between Kristine Shergold and Galina Gumliiska which saw Shergold winning in round four as Gumliiska was unable to continue

The second match of the night saw Ben Wakeman agains Wolverhampton's Carl Allen making his 116th professional appearance. Wakeman was declared the victor with a 40-35 points advantage.




Next up was a contest between Kelvin Young and Tommy Marshal, fought over six two minute rounds, with Young taking a 59-56 points victory.

Contest number four saw Liam Power vs. Gavin Brook over six two minute rounds, with Power loosing in the fourth thanks to a technical count out.

Next up was a match between Jamie Speight and Sheffield's Daniel Thorpe making his 129th professional appearance. Speight won a 60-54 point victory.

The sixth contest was between Sam Smart and Danny Goode. The outcome was a win for Smart in the fifth round.

The headline fight of the evening saw Bridgewater's Dean Mills andMark McCullough from High Wicombe contesting for the British Masters Lightweight title over ten three minute rounds with McCullough taking a narrow 95-94 points victory.
